The Basics of Caribbean Stud Poker
Caribbean Stud Poker is one of most underrated
table games available at a casino. The Set-up for Caribbean Stud has similar
characteristics as Blackjack, Video Poker and Let it Ride. There are some
interesting rules in Caribbean Stud Poker, such as:
The pay-out for Caribbean Stud depends on what you got in your hand. A pair pays out
1-1, two pair 2-1 all the way up to $500 -1 for a royal flush.
Even if you make a pair or better, you will still have to beat the dealer. For example, if
you have three of a kind and the dealer gets a straight, you would lose that hand.
The dealer must also qualify in order to get paid-out on your bet. If the dealer
doesn't have AK or better, you will only get paid on your
ante and your bet will be refunded.
Before you are dealt cards, you have the option of playing for the bonus. The bonus
will pay-out every time you get a flush or better regardless
if the dealer didn't qualify or even if the dealer has a better hand. The typical bonus at a casino
is, $50 for Flush, $100 for a Full House, $500 for
a four of a kind, 10% of the progressive jackpot for
a Straight Flush and the whole Jackpot for a Royal Flush.
How to play Caribbean Stud
Placing your initial wagerFirst select how much you want to wager
and place it on the circle that reads "Ante". You will also have
to place one dollar in the bonus slot if you want to play for the bonus and the progressive jackpot.
Bet of Fold
You will then be dealt your five cards,
you will not get any more cards or be able to draw.
The dealer's card will also be dealt, with the first
card being shown to the public. At this moment you have the choice of
folding your hand or placing a bet. If you choose to fold, you will forfeit your
ante. If you choose to bet, you will need to place a wager twice the
size of you "Ante" in the "Bet" circle. After doing this,
there is nothing you can do to influence your chances of winning or losing.
The Dealer Showdown
If the dealer doesn't have a hand that is AK or better.
- All players that didn't fold will have their "antes" matched and
their "bets" refunded.
- Players who paid the $1 to play the bonus will get paid if they have a Flush or better.
If the dealer has AK or better.
- All players with a weaker hand than the
dealer will lose their "ante" and their "bet".
- All players who have a better hand than
the dealer will have their "antes" matched and have their "bets"
paid-out depending on the hand they are
holding. For example; 1 pair pays-out 1-1, 2 pairs pays-out
2-1, three of a kind pays-out 3-1, etc.
- Players who paid the $1 to play the
bonus will get paid if they have a Flush or better.
Caribbean Stud Strategy
By not playing for the bonus you are unable to win the progressive jackpot and if the dealer doesn't have a qualifying hand, a Royal Flush will get paid the same as a four card straight. Caribbean Stud Poker can be a fun or an extremely frustrating casino game. Not a game for those that get overly emotional while playing.
