The Basics of Roulette
There are many different types of bets available at the Roulette table.
Some of them include;, betting on a single number, betting on a split bet,
betting on a row, betting on a square, betting on two adjacent rows,
betting on a red or black, betting on odd or even,
betting on the first 18 or last 18, betting on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd row,
betting on the 1st 12, 2nd 12, or 3rd 12
To simplify things I will assume you are playing at a European Roulette table (a Roulette table
with only one "zero").
Straight-up Bet

The game of Roulette allows you to put your money on a single number. If
the ball stops on that number and only that number, you will get paid out 35-1.
House edge = 2.70%
The Split Bet

You can bet on two numbers in Roulette by placing your chips between
two numbers. This allows you to win if the ball lands on either
of your two numbers. The pay-out odds are 17-1.
House edge = 2.70%
Betting on 3 Numbers

By betting on a row, you are giving yourself a chance to win on three numbers. To
place a bet on a row, place the bet on the line between the number in the row and
the outside bets (as shown in the picture to the right). The pay-out
odds are 11-1.
House edge = 2.70%
Betting on a Square

By betting on a Square gives you the chance to win on four numbers. To
place a square bet place the bet in the center of the four numbers (as shown at
the roulette table to the right).
The pay-out odds are 9-1 for a Square bet.
House edge = 2.70%
Betting on 2 Rows

By betting on two rows you are giving yourself the opportunity to win on six
numbers. To place a bet on two rows, place the bet like you would if you are
placing a bet on a single row, but have the chip straddle between the two numbers on the rows you want to wager
on (see picture to the right). The pay-out odds are 6-1 for this bet.
House edge = 2.70%
Red, Black, Even, Odd, the first eighteen or the last eighteen

Betting on whether the ball will land on Red, Black,
Even, Odd, the first eighteen or the last eighteen, all have the same
pay-out odds. The payout odds are 1-1.
House edge = 2.70%
Betting on Columns and Dozens

For betting on dozens, you are simply betting on whether the ball will land on the numbers 1-12,
13-24 or 25-36. For columns you are betting on the ball landing on one of the three columns.
For example, the 2nd column consist of these numbers 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32 and 35. The pay-out
odds are 2-1.
