Omaha Poker Strategy
Omaha is definitely a card game for poker players who like strategy.
Players must be aware of the many possible draws and made hands
out there. Many times there are players beaten with a bigger
straight, flush or even full houses.
Only play 3 of the possible pairs before the flop; aces, kings and
queens. That way when you flop a set on the flop you'll
usually have the highest set.
Avoid lower wraps (4 consecutive cards in your starting hand) because
you could easily have a lower straight if you actually hit one, same
with small flush draws too.
When you have AAxx before the flop you
would like to put all your money in the pot before the flop whenever
possible, to take out the limpers and get heads up. Before the
flop AAxx is a favorite over any other
hand.
Playing hands with other big pocket pairs
(KKxx, QQxx, JJxx) in Pot-Limit Omaha, you'll want
to see the flop for the least amount possible. These hands
are only good to see if you will flop a set.
Playing strong hands before the flop it is recommended that you
make a small raise to increase the pot in case you hit on the flop.
If your hand is strong after the flop, you should bet hard
in order to protect your hand.
