Chinese Poker Rules

13 cards will be dealt to each player. You must arrange your cards into 3 hands, 2 hands of 5 cards and 1 hand of 3

cards.

The "Back" hand must have 5 cards and be better than the "Middle" and "Front" hands.

The "Middle" hand must use 5 cards and be better than the "Front" hand, but have a lesser value than the "Back" hand.

The "Front" hand must use 3 cards and have a lower value than the "Middle" and "Back" hands.

 

 If a player doesn't set up their hands correctly they must pay a penalty to each player. Straights and flushes don't count

for your front hand except in clean sweeps.

You could arrange them like this:

Front hand

Back hand

The back hand, a straight flush, beats the middle hand, trip Aces, which beats the front hand, trip Jacks.

The back hand, trip Kings, doesn't beat the middle hand, a flush Kings, which makes your whole hand invalid.

There are 2 versions of Chinese Poker, Western and Eastern.
 

Western Chinese Poker
The player who wins the majority of segments earns an extra point.
 

Eastern Chinese Poker
Players in Eastern Chinese Poker are awarded bonuses for certain hands:
Having three of a kind in your front hand earns you 3 units,

having a full house in your middle hand earns you 2 units,

having 4 of a kind earns you 8 units in the middle and 4 units in the back,

having a straight flush earns you 10 units in the middle and 5 units in the back.


The bonus will double if the hand is of the same type as your opponent's, but of higher rank. For example, your back hand

is JJJJ7 and your opponents back hand is 6666A, you'll earn a bonus of 8 units, not 4.

Clean Sweep Hands
Hands that win automatically.

Dragon - One of every rank, wins you 13 units.
13 Colors -13 cards of one color, wins you 13 units.
12 Colors - Exactly 12 cards of one color, earns you 3 units.
6 Pair - (4-of-a-Kind can count as 2 pair), earns you 3 units.
3 Straights - Straights in all three hands, earns you 3 units.
3 Flushes - Suited cards in all three hands, earns you 3 units.

Surrender
You may surrender your hand before showdown, but you must pay each opponent 3 units.
